Dear People —

I want to share a traditional perspective with you that feels especially relevant this time of year. It’s part of a series I’m calling “In Season, On Purpose” — a way of looking at health through the lens of seasonal biology, and how the body naturally shifts throughout the year.

This video focuses on Spring — and why this season often brings changes in energy, mood, and physical symptoms.

Before you watch, I want to offer a bit of context.

In my practice, I look at health through multiple layers:

  • Functional blood chemistry

  • Metabolic and nutritional physiology

  • Nervous system regulation

  • And at times, the more subtle aspects of being human

Because the truth is — Modern medicine is excellent at measuring the body…but it doesn’t always account for the experience of being in one.

And both matter.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there is a concept called Shen — often translated as consciousness or spirit.

More practically, it reflects how we experience life: Clarity. Direction. Presence. A sense of meaning.

And in that wisdom of thinking, spring is not just a metabolic shift —it’s a shift in how we experience ourselves.

A time when: Energy begins to rise. Vision returns. Movement begins again — internally and externally.

You don’t have to think about this philosophically for it to be relevant. Because our biology mirrors it.

As light increases:

  • Circadian rhythms reset

  • Metabolism shifts

  • Liver activity increases

  • Detox pathways begin activating

And for some people, that feels energizing.

For others, it shows up as:

  • Allergies

  • Fatigue

  • Skin changes

  • Brain fog

Not because something is going wrong —but because something is trying to move.

This video explores both sides of that: The physiology. And the experience.

Because honoring the experience of being human — the shifts in energy, clarity, and direction — is not separate from health. It’s part of it.

And if you’re noticing changes in your energy, digestion, skin, or immune system this time of year, there is usually a pattern behind it.

If you want help understanding your specific pattern, that’s exactly what we do inside a Case Review.
